If you're a magazine reader, you will have been reminded multiple times this past week that Madewell.com is up and running. I've been in the store a few times and browsed the sale rack, but have never bought anything since I thought the prices too high.
However, I decided to check out the site to see what all the fuss is about and was pleasantly surprised. The aesthetic is definitely more slouchy-chic than I wear, but there are cute pieces that could be worked in with basics and the prices are a bit more in line with Martin & Osa than I remembered. I'll still be waiting for markdowns, though.
Some pieces worth checking out:
Silverlake Top - $38
This is a 'go out to the bar this summer' type top, and 23 year old me would have bought one and worn the heck out of it
Button Down Boy Shirt - $68
This would be cute with shorts or dark jeans and dressy flat sandals. Not a big fan of how they styled this...
Cropped Drape Cardigan - $58
I'd layer this over a tank top and white shorts this summer since I often get cold when every building is blasting the a/c all summer. It's thin enough to not look really out of season, and would fit in my bag if I got too hot
Night Blossom Dress - $98
This is very 'summer first date' to me. I like the cut, but would need it to be marked down before buying
Mariposa Skirt - $88
I have no idea why this skirt is $88, but I love how cheerful it is
