Reader Request: Fall Foliage Viewing

This week I got an email from a new reader named Aparna (welcome!) and she requested some help putting together outfits for her upcoming trip to New England to admire the foliage and take lots of photos.  She doesn't care for jeans, and embraces her pear shape in pencil skirts and girly silhouettes.  She also doesn't want to disappear into the background of each picture, so I put together a couple of outfits that I'd be packing if my weekend included such a fun excursion:

Both outfits are easy to wear, and the saturated jewel tones will photograph well and not blend in to the sea of orange and red.  Both the dress and skirt/belt will draw attention to a small waist without being too dressy.  A single pair riding boots will go with either option, and roomy purse will hold important car snacks and a serious camera.  I kept the accessories simple but interesting, like the leopard watch.

I hope this set was helpful to Aparna (and the rest of you!), and if you would like me to help you with a wardrobe dilemma of your own just send me an email.  It's free, and I try to help one person per week.

P.S. I'm so sad that I didn't get to snatch up that plum colored dress before it sold out at Asos!  I'd have worn the crap out of it this year under jackets and and sweaters.  This dress I found is similar, but even the model has VPL so it must be really thin!  I also love this dress from LOFT, and will be popping in to my local store at lunch this week to try it out.

So, what's your favorite fall outfit staple?  I can't wait to wear my brown riding boots with anything I can think of and break out the sweater dresses!
