Good morning! This week I'm excited to help my friend Jan prepare for her upcoming 5-day vacation in New York. She's not looking to bring her whole closet with her, but needs a variety of outfits. It's especially tricky to pack a single bag with cold weather clothes since they take up so much room but if you bring a limited palette and versatile pieces, it's possible.
Here's what I would pack:
For plane travel: Black leggings and a sweater dress are soft and comfortable, and wearing the riding boots saves space in the suitcase
For sightseeing: Jeans or cords plus cozy sweaters and a great coat are easy and chic. The same legging and sweater dress combination is also suitable, as is a black knit dress over the leggings with a heavier sweater on top. A chambray shirt can be added to the mix with the cords and heavy cardigan or the dress and leggings combination. Finally, for days full of walking, proper sneakers are a must. Seriously... pack them.
For dinners and shows: The skinny black cords become chic when paired with a fitted camel sweater or pink blouse. The same tops will also look great with the leopard pencil skirt. If you're not comfortable with slim pants, a great boot cut style will look just as good.
What are your packing must-haves for winter trips? Please share in the comments, along with your favorite NYC activities for Jan!
