1. I just finished reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave for my new book club and it is amazing, though definitely not a light read (subject matter, not length). However, I think it's good to sometimes read things that make you uncomfortable and really think about how other people live while we yearn for expensive things that we see on the internet and act like a kitchen without granite counters is equivalent to camping (my House Hunters pet peeve). Although fictional, the story made me take a step back and think about how I spend my time and mental energy, and remind me that I need to give more of myself and my resources to those in need.
3. I know the wallpaper isn't for everyone, but I love how this space just feels happy without coming across as too childish.
4. For the locals: This weekend is the Dallas Vintage Clothing and Jewelry Show, which takes place at the Grapevine Convention Center (ha!). I'm stopping by after work, and it's definitely worth the $8 admission if you like to shop vintage without the stores that smell bad. Some vendors have high end pieces, but others have bins upon bins of 40-50s jewelry that you can buy for a song and wear every day like I do.
If you can't make it, but still want to buy some pretty jewelry, I recommend checking out Sweet & Spark, an online shop with affordable pieces that fit in with modern trends. For example, this Trifari piece from the 60s is only $36 and totally wearable. I'm gradually curating a collection, and I'm so tempted to buy it myself!
5. If you haven't already, be sure to enter one of the two LOFT necklaces and tote bags I'm giving away this week! The cutoff is noon on Saturday, and you can be entered up to 9 times (crazy!) on the original giveaway post.
And with that, I bid you good weekend!
