Awesome Pillow Covers under $30 at Society 6

Perhaps I am a cheapskate, but I do not believe that $140 is a good price for a single throw pillow.  Sorry, but I don't, and probably never will.

$20-$28, however, is much more my speed because I tend to get bored of them after 2-3 years.  Luckily, I just discovered that Society 6  has expanded their offerings to include 16-20" pillow covers!

There are literally hundreds to choose from, and if your taste skews modern, you'll be thrilled.  All are available in three sizes and sold with or without an insert.  You can restyle a whole couch for under $100!

Here are my favorites:

I think my favorite is the green scalloped one (fifth from last), but the yellow ikat, and art deco patterns are calling my name too.  What about you?

5 Things Friday

Happy Friday, ladies!  I'm so glad the weekend is almost here.  Although I'm so grateful to have lots of friends, I have been run ragged with social engagements this week and am looking forward to some me-time on Saturday afternoon.  Hopefully all of you can do the same!

In the meantime, here are five things worth sharing on the internet:

1. I am in love with this painting from 1875 called The Falling Rocket by James Abbott McNeill Whistler.  I'll be ordering a large print for our living room since I'm switching some things up this month.

2. I've always thought that country/traditional houses weren't my style, but I love this one.  I think that semi-modern decor wouldn't be out of place, and the metal roof would be so soothing when it rains.  Sigh...

3. I made these pink/white circus animal cookie truffles for a baby shower at my office and so far they are a HIT!  They take a bit of time to prepare, but it's not difficult and definitely a flashback to the days when a baggie of these babies in your lunchbox was the best thing ever.  Check out the step by step recipe from Cookin Cowgirl!

4.  How awesome are these suede peep-toe wedges from Sole Society?  They're only $59, and they come in pink and navy too!  Has anyone bought shoes from this site before?  With free shipping both ways, I may give them a shot.  (If you don't mind, join through this link)

5. My living room is fairly narrow and long, and the furniture arrangement in place works well for us but doesn't leave room for a large - or even medium - coffee table.  The small options I've found aren't calling my name, but this week I'm loving the idea of a mid-century ottoman that I can pair with one of my many trays.  Sadly, the amazing option below (Dune ottoman by Weiman) will never be mine (it's a mere $1,295!) but I'm hoping to find a similar vintage option!

And with that, I bid you good weekend!

Good intentions gone awry...

I had every intention of blogging today, but instead I'd rather do this:

See you Friday!

Who wears short shorts? Not me!

If you can believe it, I did not wear shorts in public from about 2008-2011.  I don't have inner thigh clearance (at all) and I didn't like how normal 3" inseams looked on my legs.  So, rather than try different styles, I just wore jeans and skirts.  Genius, right?

Luckily, I soon discovered that all I needed was a couple more inches of inseam, and to be ok with sizing up (because tight shorts look good on almost nobody, and going up 1-2 sizes is totally normal) and I was in business!  I also am well aware that I should not be trying to dress like I'm 23 again, so mid-length shorts feel a bit more classy on my shape.

Here's how I wear mine:

In the event that you are in the market for 4-5" inseam shorts, I did a lot of shopping and found some options ranging from $15 on up to $60 - sure to suit every body and budget:

5 Things Friday

Happy Friday!  It's finally here - this week seemed to drag on forever, and I never want to make a financial chart again.  Too bad that's a big part of my (marketing) job.  Sigh.  Although I've been super busy, I did have time to scrounge up 5 things worth sharing on the internet:

1.  I find this to be true, even if the thing you truly love is a pair of red wooden shoes that your grandma bought you in 1989.  They'll be on display in my house forever.

2.  I was excited to see this super chic chair on Pinterest (via the Tresor Emporium shop on Etsy) since classic but ugly chairs are all over Craigslist and I love how modern the chair looks with the right color paint on the seat and back.

3. This week's recipe I'm trying is this lemon blueberry bread made with greek yogurt.  You can check out the recipe over at A Bitchin Kitchen.  Perhaps my husband will like it?  He's not a fan of sweets, if you can believe it, but lemon and blueberry are his favorite flavors.

4. If you were not already aware, Joni Lay over at Lay Baby Lay is a nursery decor genius.  Genius, I say!!  Her first daughter's nursery was all over Pinterest, and she's since had a second little girl with equally sweet digs.  I'd move in tomorrow and I'm 29.

5. Isn't it amazing how leopard makes anything just a bit fancier?  This is the most casual of outfits, but the clutch takes it up a notch and made it pin-worthy.  It works with shoes, scarves, and belts too!

And with that, I bid you good weekend.  And please, if you are inclined to do so,  send prayers to those in Boston and West, TX after such a terrible week in our country.
