5 Things Friday

Happy Friday!!  I'm preparing for a really busy weekend of partying and then starting to prepare for our vacation next week, but wanted to share a few fun things I found this week:

1. Gap is really killing it with their selection of shorts this summer - most of them under $40!  I love the black and gray ikat pair, and will be hunting for them in my size before leaving for Italy.  However, I must take this moment to point out that I'm growing really frustrated with the inconsistent sizing at Gap.  Jeans labeled size 8 and size 14 should not be the same size - that's a pretty ridiculous range.

2. Sometimes I get really excited when I find a room that I think I could recreate.  This is one of them, and my new guest bedroom inspiration.

3. Some of these Busty Girl Comics had me giggling out loud.  For those of us who deal with them 24/7/365, it's nice to know we're not alone in our frustration

4. I am so in love with this dress that my coworker Natalie pinned on Pinterest.  I would wear the crap out of it this summer, but can't quite bring myself to spend $69.  Le sigh...

5. This office nook was the only thing I really liked about the Domino Quick Fixes magazine, and now I want some Eskayel wallpaper more than ever.  However, just a 4 foot cutting is $110 so I may have to settle for a framed piece.

Hot Summer Style (Literally)

One of the things I love and hate about living in Texas is our climate of extremes.  It goes from perfect to sweltering in a matter of days, and this week marks the beginning of hot weather that will probably last through September.  Oddly enough, we also see a big increase in outdoor parties and concerts right about now, so we can't escape the soaring temperatures without missing out on the fun.

As all of us down here bust out our shorts and sweat-friendly outfits, I decided to make a little inspiration board to get me in the mood for warmer weather.

What's your favorite combination to wear when it's hot?  For me, it's either a 5" chino short (no shorter and no longer!) or a cropped pant with a tank top and sandals.  Time to stock up on sleeveless tops!

Party Planning: Frozen Cocktails

This weekend N and I will host our fourth annual crawfish boil in our backyard.  It's a southern thing, for those of you grossed out by the thought of eating tiny crustaceans boiled in spices, and so much fun.  Let's just say that there will be lots of Shiner Bock consumed between the hours of 11am and midnight.

In addition to all the Shiner, I want to serve some frozen, summery cocktails and thanks to Pinterest, I have so many options.  Look, internet!

My Summer Uniform: Green LOFT Pants

Yesterday I got the most perfect pair of green cropped pants at LOFT.  They fit like a dream, they're not too cropped but not so long on a short person that they look like regular pants.  This is big news in my life, folks.  I got a white pair, too, but those don't make me dance around in circles in the fitting room.

Here's the pant I bought, but the green appears to be sold out online right now.  However, my local store has several pair.

Have you caved and bought green pants yet?  I think they're the easiest step up from blue, with a bit more versatility after summer is over.  Which is why I almost paid full price.
